About Reishi

ganoderma Lucidum

Ganoderma lucidum is a type of mushroom also known as Mannen Mushroom. When dried, it can be preserved for many years while retaining its original form over many years, hence the name “Mannen Mushroom.

In the past, it was also called “Sarunokoshikake,” a common name. However, Ganoderma lucidum and Sarunokoshikake are completely different mushrooms. The umbrella is generally round or kidney-shaped, and the surface of the umbrella has a varnish-like sheen.

Since ancient times, Ganoderma lucidum has been used as a traditional Japanese and Chinese high-grade health ingredient, but its hard, corky texture and strong, bitter taste make it unsuitable for food.

Reishi is widely known for its β-glucan, but that is not its only useful ingredient. In fact, the unique bitter taste of Ganoderma lucidum itself is one of the useful components, triterpenes such as ganoderic acid.

Reishi is not only a health ingredient, but also a rare mushroom that is treated as a “sign of good fortune” when discovered, as only two or three of the 100,000 old trees from which it is collected are rare.

Why did the reishi mushroom become a “sign of good fortune”? There is a story about it as follows.

In the old days, monks used to carry a priest's tool called “ruyi,” the tip of which resembled the shape of a reishi mushroom. The word “ruyi” means “things will go as one wishes.” Therefore, holding Reishi came to mean “things will go as one wishes” as well as “ruyi,” and it became a “sign of good fortune.

Reishi has a history of being drunk only by the upper class for more than 2,000 years. The long history of Reishi is also the history of the continuous confirmation of its safety and usefulness.Unlike pharmaceuticals, which have an immediate effect, Reishi's useful ingredients work slowly on the root of the body.

In other words, it is a safe and reliable traditional high-grade health ingredient that eliminates the burden on the body and helps maintain health from the root.

Joyaku Reishi
(ganoderma Lucidum)

Joyaku Kenkyujo commercializes products grown by the Sawayaka Reishi Cooperative, a contract grower in Nakano City, Nagano Prefecture. The products are grown by hand without pesticides, and are tested annually for residual pesticides and radioactivity, making them purely domestic and safe.

In addition, over the course of 23 years, Sawayaka Reishi Kumiai has succeeded in developing a seed fungus that grows a magnificent thick-walled, large umbrella. We also maintain other technologies that are trade secrets, and we cultivate high-quality Reishi mushrooms.

Not only is this Reishi mushroom domestically produced, but it is also hand-cultivated without pesticides and with a lot of time and effort. Because it is something we consume for our health, we test for residual pesticides and radioactivity every year, making this domestic reishi mushroom safe and secure.

We maintain our own cultivation techniques based on our many years of cultivation experience and high-quality seed fungi, and are able to harvest high quality Reishi mushrooms every year.
